edition.

the archive

edition holds your photo books and the other books on your shelf, each with where it came from and what shape it's in, kept the way you actually work. a book bought in a small shop in another city, a signed copy, a book that's been on loan for longer than anyone remembers: each one carries its own story, and edition keeps that story with the book. edition also keeps the art you own, a print, a photograph or an object, with who made it, where it came from and where it's been shown.

the record path.

example · real books from the founder's library

at a book fair, you scan the barcode and see you already own it.

three ways in.

camera. point your phone at a book's barcode and it fills in on one screen, for you to check. one book at a time, or several in a row.

scanner. a bluetooth barcode scanner works anywhere on the page. scan a stack back to back, check the batch once, and add them all together.

type it in. for a book without a barcode, or one you'd rather enter yourself. the title is enough to start.

what it keeps

the isbn, the cover, the edition, its condition and where it came from, with your phone's camera, a barcode scanner or by typing it in. when a book has a cover photo, its details fill in from it, and you check them before anything is saved. or bring a whole list at once, from a spreadsheet or an export from Goodreads, LibraryThing or Libib, with the columns matched and duplicates flagged before anything is added.

the same book, twice.

a signed copy

very good · bought at a fair

EDN-00041 · $65 · shelf 2

an unsigned copy

good · bought at a shop

EDN-00042 · $40 · box 4 · storage

each copy keeps its own story: its own code, what you paid, its condition and its place on the shelf.

an example from a fictional practice. edition's import preview for a spreadsheet: each column matched to a field, two author names with their accents repaired, and a repeated title and a book already in the library dimmed.

what it keeps track of

your collections, what you've lent and to whom, the books still on their way to you, and the books you keep for reference, each one in the place it belongs. a wish list holds the ones you're still looking for.

certificates

for work you made, you issue its certificate from the record edition already keeps: numbered, with its edition and provenance, and printed for your signature.

an example certificate, for a fictional work. page one, made from the work's record: its artwork id, edition 2/5, dimensions and provenance. …and page two, with the signature line, the date issued and a qr code, covered.

what you get

a record of your library, there whenever you need it. you can share a book with a friend as a card with a note, and a review by ari, the intelligence in studio369.ai, can sit beside the books you choose.

how it connects

a print from lab joins the collection with its making, and a piece of gear can join it without becoming a second record.

certificates are issued from the record edition already keeps.

the friend who borrows a book is a contact, the same in every app.
